The leadership of the Temple is elected every year at the annual meeting held in May. To be eligible for a leadership position, congregation members must be Jewish, and they must be members in good standing (which means dues are paid to date).
Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors consists of 11 members—4 officers, 4 members-at-large, Past-president, Chairman of the Board of Education, and Sisterhood President. Board members serve for one year at a time, except for the members-at-large, who serve overlapping two-year terms.
Board of Trustees
A Board of Trustees of five members is elected with the responsibility of taking care of real estate transactions. This encompasses the Temple proper, the Temple's property, and the cemetery. A “kosher” cemetery on consecrated ground is found at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Business 20 east of Odessa as well as a section in Midland. Lots are available for purchase at any time.
Board of Education
The Board of Education is made up of 5 members—one of whom is elected as the Chairman to represent this Board on the Board of Directors. Their responsibility is to plan for the year’s activities in the Religious School and obtain teachers; then their duties are to see that the plan is carried out.
We commend all congregation members who volunteer their time to lead, teach, and assist each other in maintaining our wonderful Jewish community.
