The Mi Sheberakh prayer is one of the central Jewish prayers for those who are facing the challenge of illness. The prayer includes pleas for both physical and spiritual healing. Traditionally, the Mi Sheberakh is said in synagogue when the Torah is read. We also chant the Mi Sheberakh during Friday evening services. In modern times, the Mi Sheberakh is often said by professional health caregivers, patients, and loved ones at various times during treatment and recovery from illness of all sorts.
M'kor hab'rachah l'imoteinu.
May the source of strength who blessed the ones before us
help us find the courage to make our lives a blessing and let us say,
M'kor hab'rachah l'aavoteinu.
Bless those in need of healing with r'guah sh'leimah,
the renewal of body, the renewal of spirit, and let us say, Amen.
